Rajni Razdan, a UPSC member since 2010, has been named the next chairperson of the commission. A retired IAS officer of Haryana cadre, Razdan replaces D P Agrawal whose tenure ends on Saturday.
A government release on Thursday said she would be administered oath as UPSC chief on Saturday.
Razdan will take charge of UPSC days after the government, in a bid to resolve the row over Civil Services Aptitude Test, announced that the marks for English section of Paper II should not be counted for gradation or merit. It also allowed those who took the civil services exam in 2011, an extra attempt in 2015.
According to sources, UPSC will shortly come out with an amended prelims examination circular communicating the revised marking scheme for CSAT Paper II.
The 64-year-old Razdan had retired as secretary, department of administrative reforms and public grievances.
UPSC is headed by a chairman and has 10 members. The members include former DoPT secretary Alka Sirohi, academician David R Syiemlieh, ex-IFS officer Manbir Singh, former CBI director A P Singh, former Navy vice-chief D K Dewan, ex-railway board chairman Vinay Mittal, educationists P Kelimsungla and Prof Hem Chandra Gupta, besides former IAS officer Chhatar Singh.
