Chhattisgarh, three IR Bns in Jharkhand, three IR Bns in Odisha and
two IR Bns in Maharashtra.

and Russian researchers for joint implementation of research projects

The
Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has
given its ‘in principle’ approval to the LIGO-India mega science
proposal for research on gravitational waves. The proposal, known as
LIGO-India project (Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory
in India) is piloted by Department of Atomic Energy and Department of
Science and Technology (DST). The approval coincides with the historic
detection of gravitational waves a few days ago that opened up of a new
window on the universe to unravel some of its greatest mysteries.

w.e.f. 01.01.2016. This represents an increase of 6 percent over the
existing rate of 119 percent of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for
price rise.

The Union
Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its
approval for transfer of land measuring 89.72 ha in Sector 25, Dwarka,
New Delhi, free from all encumbrances, to the Department of Industrial
Policy and Promotion for creation of a World class State-of-the-Art
Exhibition-cum Convention Centre in Dwarka, New Delhi at a nominal sum
of Re 1/- within six weeks of the decision by the Cabinet. This is a
special case so that directions can be granted to DDA under Section
21(1) of the DD Act, 1957 read alongwith Section 41(1) of the Act.

given its approval to Implementation of the National Hydrology Project.
It will be a central sector scheme with a total outlay of Rs. 3679.7674
crore. This includes Rs.3,640 crore for National Hydrology Project
(NHP) and Rs. 39.7674 crore for National Water Informatics Centre (NWIC)
to be taken up in two stages.

The

given its approval to replace the existing policy on crude oil import by
Oil PSUs and vest the oil PSUs with the power to evolve their own
policies. This will provide a more efficient, flexible and dynamic
policy for crude procurement, eventually benefiting the consumers.

396.Establishment of Fund of Funds for funding support to Start-ups
The
Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has
approved the establishment of "Fund of Funds for Startups" (FFS) at
Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) for contribution to
various Alternative Investment Funds (AIF), registered with Securities
and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) which would extend funding support to
Startups. This is in line with the Start up India Action Plan unveiled
by Government in January 2016.

398. Withdrawal of the Drugs and Cosmetics (Amendment) Bill, 2013
The
Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has
decided to withdraw the Drugs and Cosmetics (Amendment) Bill, 2013,
which had been introduced in the Rajya Sabha on 29.08.2013. The Bill had
been examined by the Standing Committee of Parliament which had made a
number of recommendations for changing the provisions of the Bill.
399.Cabinet approves special package for employment generation and promotion of exports in Textile and Apparel sector
The
move comes in the backdrop of the package of reforms announced by the
Government for generation of one crore jobs in the textile and apparel
industry over next 3 years. The package includes a slew of measures
which are labour friendly and would promote employment generation,
economies of scale and boost exports. The steps will lead to a
cumulative increase of US$ 30 bn. in exports and investment of Rs.
74,000 crores over next 3 years.

400. Cabinet approves National Mineral Exploration Policy
The
NMEP primarily aims at accelerating the exploration activity in the
country through enhanced participation of the private sector. There is a
need for comprehensive mineral exploration of the country to uncover
its full mineral potential so as to put the nation's mineral resources
(non-fuel and non-coal) to best use and thereby maximize sectoral
contribution to the Indian economy.
401. Cabinet approves Revised Cost Estimates for establishment of Eight New IITs
The
Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has
approved the Revised Cost Estimates for establishment of eight New IITs
at Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Mandi, Patna
and Ropar. The revised Cost Estimate is Rs. 13,990 crore for
establishment of eight new IITs over a period of 11 years from 2008-09
to 2018-19. The original project cost was Rs. 6080 crore. The increase
in expenditure due to escalation in both time and cost overrun is Rs.
7910 crore.

Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be formed for development of this
Port with initial equity investment from the three Major Ports in Tamil

Kamarajar Port Limited. The SPV will develop the port infrastructure
including dredging and reclamation, construction of breakwater, ensuring

years (2016-2020). PMKVY will impart fresh training to 60 lakh youths
